AWS A5.28 – ER 100S-G

A 5KG Pack of Weld Star 2.4mm ER 110S-G high strength TIG filler rods. Copper coated wire with a combination of Nickel(Ni), Chromium(Cr) and Molybdenum(Mo) which can be used for single pass and multiple pass applications with low alloy steels.

Specifically designed to weld high yield strength steels with a tensile strength of 770MPa and greater. ER110S-G TIG rods have excellent impact resistance at temperatures as low as -40°C. Suited to steels requiring tough weld metal for critical applications.

It is often used for joining Hardox™ and Weldox™ sheets in the construction industry. Hardox™ sheets are constructed from highly durable steel with excellent resistance to wear.  As a result, it can withstand exceptional levels of mechanical stress. Hardox™ steel is also commonly known as wear plate.  Weldox™ steels also offer exceptional levels of impact resistance and durability, machinability and toughness but are still lightweight.  The main difference between these types of steels being Weldox™ is lighter in weight.

Typically this welding wire is used in the metal working industry, construction, offshore fabrication, chemical and petrochemical industries. It is also used extensively in the transport / railway sectors and mining industry. Suitable for the welding of fine grain steels.

What is the MPa Measurement?

MPa (Mega Pascal) is a standard measurement of pressure / tension and the strength of materials as defined in the International System of Weights and Measures.  This acronym is broken down as follows:

M = Mega (Standard matrix prefix meaning one million).

Pa = Pascal (From the surname of the inventor of the measurement – Blaise Pascal)

The Difference between Yield Strength and Tensile Strength

The main difference between these two measurements is that yield strength refers to determining the maximum amount of stress that can be applied before permanent shape change. Whereas tensile strength defines the amount of load or stress a material can handle until it stretches or breaks. Tensile strength is also used to identify the point at which steel moves from elastic (temporary) to plastic (permanent) deformation.

In Conclusion
