The Oxford TIGMaker 330E is an AC DC TIG machine also capable of MMA welding. With an amperage range of 10 amps to 330 amps in both AC and DC allowing the user to weld even the thinnest of materials. Supplied as a dual voltage 230V/400V, they are highly versatile as a mobile welding machine. Billed as a weld anything, anywhere machine, they are suitable for running on a single phase 13A domestic plug up to around 170A. Weld all metal types, aluminium, aluminium alloys and castings, steel, stainless steel, brass, titanium, duplex, hardox etc.
Like many Oxford welding machines, the Oxford TIGMaker 330E AC DC is built using technology previously seen on the highly acclaimed CUTMAKER plasma machines. Oxford call this their hybrid technology, which uses a conventional copper wound transformer, but with Mitsubishi PWM chopper technology to give infinite and precise control of the welding output. Chopper technology has been around for a few years but has been reserved for the most industrial equipment. Oxford have changed that by incorporating it into their TIGMaker machines. Oxford state that this hybrid technology is not to be underestimated. Performance and efficiency is comparable to a good inverter based machine but with the reliability, ruggedness and lifespan of a conventional machine. Perhaps not as light as an inverter machine, Oxford believe the benefits far outweigh.
The Oxford TIGMaker machines are designed to weld as well as the very best inverter welders available but with the added benefit of extreme durability. Transformer based machines tolerate real world conditions such as grinding dust, moisture, knocks, drops and voltage spikes from the power supply. Oxford claim that this technology many times increases the lifespan of a machine when comparing to a European or American made inverter welder. Furthermore, these machines are highly repairable unlike some of the complex inverter machines out there.

OXFORD TIGMAKER AC DC INFORMATION
Arc starts are instant due to a high open circuit voltage (OCV). The resulting arc is stable and quiet throughout the machines power range and is perfectly smooth. The infinitely variable amperage control allows the user to set the machine to optimum conditions and the digital display shows settings before welding and the actual values during the weld. Variable gas post flow control ensures coverage of shielding gas until the weld pool and electrode cools eliminating contamination at the end of the weld. Slope in and out allows the user to set up the machine for perfect starts and finishes to every weld.
Mush like in DC, arc starting is instant and the resulting arc is stable even at the lowest amperage setting. The extended AC balance control is a really useful feature – 95% negative for maximum heat into the weld pool through to 95% positive for maximum cleaning effect. Running a high % of negative balance substantially reduces the heat affecting the torch and increase the heat in the work piece. Particularly helpful when welding thicker material, increasing the range of the electrode. The balance control also allows you to change the output from AC to DC – or DC+ output (reverse polarity). The variable AC frequency controls the heat spread of the arc, at low frequency’s such as 25hz the arc is soft & has a wide spread. As the frequency is increased the arc constricts to give a more focused narrow spread of heat. Again the slope controls & post flow gas control gives perfect starts & finishes to every weld.
MMA ARC WELDING
A high OCV and built in hot start gives instant arc starting on all types of electrode. The resulting arc is perfectly smooth and stable on all rods from 1mm upwards. “All rods” include cellulosic type electrodes such as 6010, which many other machines can not handle. Also unlike many other AC/DC TIG welders, the Oxford TIGMaker is capable of MMA welding in both DC and AC. In some welding applications AC is required and the TIGMaker provides an arc far superior to the old oil cooled and air cooled transformer type machines. AC Balance is adjustable whilst MMA welding, meaning penetration can be increased/reduced as required. Rarely seen on other machines, this can be a useful feature when maximum heat is required. A digital display shows precise amp settings.
