Description
COPPER CuSn1 2.4MM TIG BRAZING RODS (C7)
AWS A5.7 ERCu EN ISO 24373 Cu1898 CuSn1
C7 Copper TIG Brazing Wire 2.4mm 5kg pack. Designed specifically for brazing copper. Creating a pure deoxidised copper deposit free from impurities to ensure excellent strength and integrity. The rods are constructed from 98% Copper with the balance being made from equal amounts of Silicon(Si) and Manganese(Mn). Used in a wide range of industries including chemical plant, electronics, automotive, plus the plumbing and heating sector.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
Suitable for all welding positions (see below). The key benefits include excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, due to their composition C7 brazing rods also have good cracking and corrosion resistance. Because copper is a very good conductor of heat and electricity there is an increase in the risk of thermal distortion compromising the integrity and structure of the finished weld. Using C7 TIG wire ensures this issue is avoided, therefore maintaining a strong finished join. This can be especially important where high levels of strain are expected. Furthermore, use these rods when welding oxygen free copper in order to obtain the best results.
Conforms to standards AWS A5.7 ERCu EN ISO 24373 Cu1898 CuSn1.
WELDING POSITIONS
BRAZING APPLICATIONS AND MATERIALS TO BE JOINED
C7 Copper TIG Brazing Wire is designed to be used for joining both copper and oxygen free copper. Due to its composition the finished weld is a deoxidised deposit free from impurity, as a result this enhances strength and integrity. When brazing with C7 rods use Pure Argon as a shielding gas. Consider pre heating when working with materials that have a greater thickness than 50mm. Also used in the marine industry for welding components such as propellers, shafts and gears.
AVAILABLE DIAMETERS
- 1.6mm
- 2.4mm

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
Brazing Vs Welding
The first key difference between brazing and welding is in brazing the base materials being joined are not melted, only the filler wire. Conversely in the welding process the base materials are penetrated. This reason being that during the welding process temperatures reached are higher than the base materials melting point. In brazing it is the opposite, temperatures reached are lower than the melting point of the base materials thus avoiding penetration.
While there is no need to change the consumables in your torch when brazing or welding, there maybe a requirement for changing the settings on your welding machine e.g. voltage control, wire feed speed and/or gas cylinder settings in order to accommodate any differences encountered when using brazing filler material.
TYPICAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Combining a number of good mechanical properties including excellent tensile strength which refers to a materials ability to withstand high levels of stress and pressure without breaking or deforming. In addition, other mechanical properties include good yield strength, hardness and ductility. Moreover, they also have excellent corrosion resistance making them good for use in corrosive environments.
Shielding Gas: Pure Argon
