MMA / STICK / ARC WELDING SUPPLIES

MMA or stick welding uses a power source and an electrode holder to hold a rod electrode which both arcs on the work piece and contributes filler material to the weld.

This category contains a number of items used for stick or arc welding, such as:

Wire brushes – wire brushes are used to clean the material where the weld is to be made.  The cleaning process is an important stage in any welding process in order to remove contaminants from the weld.  A wire brush can also be used post-weld to remove remaining slag and clean up weld.

Stick rods / Electrodes – As mentioned above, the welding rod acts as both the electrode to initiate the arc and generate heat and also burns during the weld to add filler metal to the weld.  There are a number of arc welding rods available, each suited to different materials and with different characteristics.

Chipping hammers – Chipping hammers are used to knock the slag from the weld.  This is the crust which forms on the outside of the weld during the arc welding process.

PPE – In stick or MMA welding, the operator generally wears thick protective gloves to protect from heat, light and spatter from the weld.
