WELDING GAS IN CAMBERLEY – RENT FREE
TBWS Welding Supplies Ltd is a supplier of SGS Welding Gas. SGS Gas is a rent free solution for purchasing welding gas. Unlike BOC, Air Liquide etc, there are no contracts or monthly fees. Simply come and collect a cylinder of MIG or TIG welding gas and pay a deposit for the cylinder itself. The model works much like a Calor gas system in that when you have finished with the cylinder, you can return it and receive the entirety of your deposit. You are welcome to return or refill a welding gas cylinder at any of the SGS distributors, situated nationally, ensuring you have a supply no matter where you are. Filled to 200 Bar too, these cylinders offer good value for money for light to medium welding gas users.
ARGON TIG WELDING GAS
Pure Argon welding gas is used for most TIG welding applications. The inert gas passes through the TIG gas lens or collet body and is directed by the cup. The gas flows onto the weld pool and prohibits air from getting to it ensuring no impurities solidify within the weld. Poor gas coverage or incorrect gas usage can lead to welds with a poor appearance and decreased strength.
Argon is also used as a purge gas for stainless steel welding where the back of the weld also needs to be shielded.
Pure argon gas can also be used for MIG welding of Aluminium (when used with the appropriate wire).
ARGON CO2 MIX WELDING GAS
Argon with CO2 is the most commonly used MIG welding gas mix. It is superior to pure CO2 for welding as it decreases spatter and provides a stable arc. Argon is an inert gas, whilst CO2 is an active gas. Differing the amounts of CO2 mixed with Argon used with Argon yields different results. We stock 2 mixes of Argon for MIG welding – 5% CO2 and 15% CO2, each of which have their own advantages:
5% CO2 / Argon Mix
Perfect for the automotive welder or sheet metal worker. A 5% CO2 mix introduces less heat to the weld and is better suited to up to 6mm steels.
15% CO2 / Argon Mix
More CO2 put simply, means more heat. This makes these welding gas mixes more suitable for thicker sections and is advised for material thicknesses upwards of 6mm.
AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION IN CAMBERLEY
We keep stock of each type of the welding gases in both 10 and 20L cylinder sizes. You are welcome to collect from our trade counter or, if local, we may be able to deliver. Please feel free to call to discuss.
