AIR FED WELDING AND GRINDING SYSTEMS

Air fed welding and grinding helmets are a must have for those involved in the welding industry.  Also referred to as PAPR welding helmets (Powered air purifying respirator) these systems act as comfortable alternative to wearing a face fit mask.

An investment to protect your health, these systems protect the respiratory system from the harmful fumes or debris associated with welding and grinding processes.  A welding helmet is always considered a must by anyone undertaking welding, but these should be considered just as important by anyone doing a lot of welding or grinding.

Dangers of welding fumes:

Higher Chromium and Nickel content in Stainless Steel makes welding fumes much more harmful of that of mild steel for example.  Aluminium welding causes the production of ozone which can cause streaming eyes or a sore throat and regular exposure to welding fume can cause pneumonia, asthma, cancer, reduced lung function, sore throat & lungs.  Updates to HSE enforcement in February 2019 has also meant, appropriate measures should be in place for any welding undertaken in the workplace.  Latest scientific research has also linked mild steel welding fume to some forms of cancer and hence control measures should be in place when welding mild steel.  See the HSE February bulletin for further information.

These cost effective air fed welding and grinding masks provide a defence against the harmful effects of welding fumes and are surprisingly comfortable to wear.  The blower unit gently wafts air over the front of your face, keeping you cool and breathing in fresh, filtered air.  The comfortable belt worn blower unit is small and light enough that wearing it soon becomes unnoticeable.
